  • When did the story started?

What does a Mothman look like?

The Mothman is described as a strange-looking creature with a large wing span and a humanoid body type. It is a beady red-eyed creature with a wingspan of 10 feet and an estimated height of 7 feet. Because of this well-known American myth, magazines even published articles about this creature and the events surrounding it. As word spread about the legend, more and more people claimed to have seen it and even photographed it.

People describe the same image of a Bird Man-like creature, which is said to be the legendary Mothman, in different events. Locals suspected the Mothman lived in a decommissioned nuclear power plant on the outskirts of town, near a top-secret government facility where nuclear weapons were tested. Because of this legendary creature, some writers have written books about it, such as John Keel, who was interested in extraterrestrial life and other paranormal activity and wrote The Mothman Prophecies.

Is there any report that a Mothman attack a human?

So far there’s no report about a Mothman attacking humans. Reports have always been sightings of a Mothman. Some even believe that a Mothman might be giving a warning to people that a tragedy or an accident might happen. Another sighting of the said Mothman when a man driving down State Route 2 claims to have seen something jump from tree to tree. He pulled over to the side of the road and took some photos.
The man declined the camera interview, but he was determined that the photos were not doctored. He said he had just moved to Point Pleasant for work and had no idea about the legendary Mothman.

Another case has been reported way back 2016 when a Mothman was seen by two hunters and even managed to take a picture of it.

There are more cases about sightings of alleged Mothman. One is sighting near a military unit and many more.

When did the story started?

In the late 1960s, a creature was identified. The Mothman has been spotted loads of times in the United States since then. The first occurrences of a Mothman were indicated in 1966 near the small town of Point Pleasant, West Virginia. On November 12, that year, five men reported seeing a man-like mysterious figure glide over their heads from a nearby tree. On November 15, Roger and Linda Scarberry and Steve and Mary Mallette, two young couples, reported to authorities that a dark shape with a 10-foot wingspan and glowing red eyes chased them in their car. This also happened near Point Pleasant, as well as near the “TNT Area,” a former World War II munitions site.

Witnesses claimed to have seen the same creature in Point Pleasant between November 15 and December 15, 1966. Some believe the Mothman is a bad omen, it only appears when an accident is about to happen. Many people claim they saw the winged, red-eyed creature just before the Point Pleasant Silver Bridge collapsed in 1967.

Precautions

Tales will always remain as tales. It’s okay to believe some of it but always remember that too much beliefs of something that is still not proven to be existing is not good. Tales are intended for children but it’s not bad for adults to believe.

Conclusions

The said Mothman might be a bad-omen, some people said that it gives a warning when something bad is going to happen, or whatever beliefs are there, but always remember that we should be more extra careful. We won’t know what will happen today, tomorrow, or the next few days. The said creature might give a sign but who knows, we cannot just simply conclude that it’s real.
