Purpose of Flex Hose for diving

SCUBA (Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus) and SSBA (Submersible Breathing Apparatus) are the two most common types of underwater breathing devices used by occupational divers. Both mechanisms supply air to divers via flexible pressure hoses, but the types of pressure hoses utilized vary widely in terms of requirements and usage.

Hoses are being used to transport breathing gas from the cylinder’s oxygen supply to the regulator or inflator system via low pressure (LP) hoses, as well as to the pressure gauge via high pressure (HP) hoses. Interaction, recordings, illumination, electronics and/or heated water are typically bundled in umbilical. While in SCUBA, the hoses attach to an oxygen supply on the ground and then to the helmet or full face mask.

The mid-layer braided part is where your hose’s effectiveness and adaptability come from. This kind of material prevents the inner core from broadening while still allowing it to bend and flex as our hoses require.

The outer layer prevents the internal parts from destruction caused by the environment. Its external coating, which is typically made of a hard rubber, serves as a sacrificial template that absorbs scrapes and bruises while not interfering with the hose’s mechanism. Small openings can be found along the length of most hoses; these are intended to have as a security measure. Rather than ballooning and eventually bursting, the holes allow higher pressure to exit slowly and evenly down the length of the hose.

Precaution

Remember that all hoses will underperform at some point due to age, process conditions, or managing. Scuba hoses, regardless of brand or material, only needs minor maintenance. Allowing hoses to be exposed to direct sunlight for an extended period of time will greatly decrease the hose’s life. Do not try to rinse anything inside the hose with any type of solvent or other chemical; new hoses are factory hygienic. And if there is any reason to believe they are really not, the hose must be replaced. Always pressurize and inspect your hoses before each dive trip for mechanical damage, corroded fittings, bulges, and leaks.
