This text originally published in 1994 and now in its third edition (1999) is an excellent straightforward guide to wilderness medicine. It is written in a very readable and understandable style covering a multitude of likely injuries. I am reviewing this as both a wilderness text and as an emergency medical text for disaster use.
Ben Piersma of Ben’s Backwoods designed and produces a small spruce handled firesteel that is not only highly functional and handy, but mighty attractive as well.
Mors Kochanski’s "Bushcraft, Outdoor Skills and Wilderness Survival" is an excellent text. However, there are wilderness skills that are not covered in this book. Kochanski, has produced sixteen, 32 page, pocket sized pamphlets that supplement his main text. This review will touch on these supplements.
